By that metric, heading due North, you'd still be in the Central
Valley clear to Redding.

I used to hear the Great Plain were flat. Pshaw! You can play 8-ball
on the valley floor from Bakersfield to Redding and from the Pacific
Range to the Sierra Foothills. The only thing that makes the Central
Valley unique is it was once so flat and low it was mostly swamps,
hence the tule fog that is still rises up to wreak havoc and claim
lives every year. That stretch jes N or B-field is STILL a mass
murderer.

True enough. But its about 500 miles north to south...so you dont have
to shift down all that much G

Hmm. I don't like the way that bolt sticks out like that. Too easy to snag
on something if you are on the move.

I suspect this piece of dreck has been listening to the voices in his
head for far far too long.

Shrug..but he appears to be one of those failed leftwingers..so mental
illness is probably part of his life..such as it is.

They don't all look that good, nor are they
so hard to build.

I think he's been listening to the teachers, adjunct professors,
and Professors. His is the sort of mind set that will believe the
most amazing nonsense, because he considered himself one to the
educated elite.

Shrug..but he appears to be one of those failed leftwingers..so mental
illness is probably part of his life..such as it is.

He's been trained to believe in things which make no sense. And
to discount the things which worked.

Basically, this story is too full of holes to be credible. It's
very moving, yes; it's designed to be, because it's propaganda.

And is it any less noteworthy as a lesson?

A lesson in what?

That it's bad to have a gov't gun registry when your country is invaded
and occupied by Germany?

You think that's ever gonna happen in the US?

Germany, no. Given the fools that keep getting elected to Congress, our
own government may decide that an armed populace is a security risk.
Change the US Code definition of 'Militia' from 'all able bodied adults'
to 'National Guard', and put the right people on SCOTUS, and it could
happen.

If you have any pre-68 heirloom guns without a paper trail, clean them
and pack them away well, and keep your mouth shut about them, even with
friends and relatives. Ya never know.

(My opinion may be biased by the fact that 65 years ago or so, my
ancestors had to flee halfway around the world, with only what they
could carry. There are big chunks of my family I never got to know.)

Very cool. But they didn't "build a gun"; all they built was the
stock and other trimmings. The working parts are all commercial.

Still a beautiful project. Congratulations to the people that did
this.

Yeah I was thinking about making an aluminum stock for a Mauser action
barreled in .308 or .270
