any suggestions to block all sunlight from 2 skylights and one large

during the peak summer months, I just want to block the sun...

is aluminum foil adhered to inside of double pane window ok? or
might that overheat the air gap between panes?

ask at a window shade place. they make shades that pull up/down with metal
foils in them, and blackout curtains. they leak a bit around the edges,
unless you can recess them a lot.

for skylights, they make shades for them too. motorized ones if out of
reach. you could cheap it with form fit cut pieces of styrofoam.

installing window shade film to double pane windows would invalidate any
warrantee, so i would bet al foil would also.

Dual pane glass are sealed units. Often filled with argon gas. You
cannot put anything "inside".

Film can break the glass and void the warranty (mentioned)

Dual pane glass are sealed units. Often filled with argon gas. You

Contrary to what some have said, you can put window film
on double pane windows, including skylights. The issue
with possible breakage due to thermal stress only occurs
on very large glass and with darker tinting. Window film is
widely used in residential as well as commercial applications.

Could probably cut down the heat by 60% with only a
minimal reduction in visible light. The other option is
shades which are available for skylights.

True. I have a couple of windows (small) with a static cling film. An
opaque film that reduces the desert heat. It is suggested to check
with the widow manufacturer before install.

Film helps here when temps get above triple digits (up to 117° F).
