Default OT Cold Weather Here In The U.S., Ha!

If we Americans think it gets cold in The States, look at what our
Russian cousins put up with. :-)

This could be Russia or our Plains, not sure but it's bad.

You obviously don't read Russian. That last photo's caption reads:
"Segei and Ivan cruising the Siberian Strip in their low riders on a
nice Spring day. You be stylin', bros!"

I didn't know you were in Burlington, Red. Nice area. I haven't been
up that way is some years, but it's really pretty.

Came back from southern NC, again, last March when I sold the last
rehabed HUD Wreck. Tonight I'm not exactly sure why. Where I was, winter
was a decent roofing time for some. I haven't seen the roof here in a
couple of months.

Haven't seen much of mine here in SW MI, either, since the 48-hour thaw
at New Year's. But that is a good thing. After blowing the driveway
clean at dawn at -11F, I drove down to the gas station to get the
papers. Most of the neighbors had bare spots showing on the roof, but
mine was a solid blanket of snow. That attic insulation seems to be
doing the job it is supposed to. (boxing in and insulating the attic
hatch probably helped some too- that sucker used to draw like a chimney.)

We lived in the BTV area until 2007. Glad to be gone, in more ways than one.
It's 36F now, with an anticipated low of 30F and a high tomorrow of 55F and my
property tax is less than 1/4 what it was in Essex. Oh, and we have a decent
football team. ;-)

Sounds exactly like where I was in NC mid winter. The minimum AVERAGE high
was 51F. Taxes also much much lower. The closest thing to local football
going on here in VT right now is me kicking myself in the ass.

If one wants to accept the accuracy of a Zephyr weather station, the
overnight low locked at -25.8F this morning. The airport, 5mi away as the
crow flies, showed -13. I thought mine was wacked out this morning. Looked
on Weather Underground. The surrounding personal stations and MADIS
locations 1mi away were in line with mine. Seemed it took very little
distance away from the airport (and lake) for large variations.

Not NC, Auburn AL. ;-) Electricity is lower here, too. I just looked at our
bill, $.08/kWh vs. $.13 (I understand it's $.16 now) in VT. Good thing, we
have a heat pump.
