Cold Patch For Asphalt Driveway
Hi,
Have some decent size holes in my old asphalt driveway. Perhaps 8" or so deep X a foot or so long. True holes; not really cracks. Have never repaired anything like this myself. Guess what I need is what's called a "cold patch" compound Is this "E Z Street" cold patch "stuff" what I want ? Is there a better product available ? If so, what makes it better ? What else should I probably be asking regarding patching asphaltg holes, but am not smart enough to know to ? Much thanks, appreciate the help, Bob |

Guess what I need is what's called a "cold patch" compound First of all you need to understand what caused the holes to appear. How wide are the holes? If you are describing large cracks, up to 2 inches wide, you can probably get away with filling the crack with fine gravel and topping off with a couple of inches of asphalt patch material. Is this "E Z Street" cold patch "stuff" what I want ? If you don't use it on a high traffic drive, it's probably OK. Is there a better product available ? If so, what makes it better ? I'd get a couple of quotes from reputable local asphalt repair companies. They will know by looking if you have an underlying problem that needs repair. They also will be able to use a longer lasting hot mix. If the remaining drive is in good condition, they can also hot seal the whole thing after repairs. That will give a consistent appearance and extend the drive life. |

You only want to apply the same amount of the cold patch to match the thickness of the rest of the driveway... ~~ Evan |

If the hole is truly 8" deep, you'll have about 3 lifts. |
