![]() "Red Green" wrote in message ... ...or just a weed? http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=213nfqb&s=5 How sure are you? "Leaves of three, let it be" Leave it alone or kill it is what that old saying means. Without being able to see the vine portion, I would say I am about 80% sure it is poison ivy, sumac or something ugly. Rouund up or the like will kill it. Colbyt |

Wouldn't be too sure it isn't--poison oak can have quite a variety of leaf shapes depending on where. Looks pretty likely to me from the pitchur smitty posted...the lobes look pretty-much "oaky" to me. -- |

Yea I thought I read someplace even if it appears/is dead it can still give you the itch because of the oils. Best not to pull it out and do not burn it. Weed whacking is OK though :-) |

Its poison something, a common way to get infected is walk through it, take off your shoes, rub your eyes and take a pee. The oils can last 6 months on tools and clothes. Safe is roundup anything like that with 3 leaves. |

Being an ongoing vine, I know you can't kill the whole thing by spraying exposed plant. But what is showing sure shows signs of a severe tummy ache. |

It still isn't poison oak. Leaves are too flat, too glossy, and veins are a contrasting color. Poison oak leaves are scrunchy / wrinkled, darker / duller, and veins do not contrast like that. |

Here in the PNW, poison oak leaves get so glossy they look like they were freshly coated with varnish, depending on the time of the year. Jon |
