Default Sorta OT re Eye glasses frame

Lots of knowledge - and lots more opinions so...

Just got new glasses. Frames were pretty inexpensive.
Am worried they will corrode turning them and my head green where the
frames touches the temples.
Two options. Get clear heat shrink tubing and use that on the ear
pieces where they touch they temples. But the end of the ear pieces are
fairly wide so I am not sure if I can get tubing onto frame and/or am
afraid that would enough tubing will not shrink enough.
Other option is to use clear nail polish.
Frames are gold color - not even gold plated (AFAIK).
Yes, I am going to Google but figured there will be some replies here
that might have good ideas.
Why did I get such frames? Cost.

TIA

Lou

"Standard" shrink tubing is 2:1 (ratio of unshrunk to shrunk size.) But,
it's also readily available in 3:1 and 4:1.

If you have your prescription information, you can order new
glasses from Zenni Optical (you can find them online).
Cheaper than the eye guy.

Apparently Zenni has been having issues lately, but there are other
options. Check out google group "GlassyEyes"

If you can remove the side pieces, it might be possible to slide the shrink
tubing on from the attachment end.
It all depends on the construction.

Mostly very slow shipping and lack of info from customer service,
people are getting nervous about ordering from them. I ordered one
pair from them and it took about 6 wks. to arrive.

Third option: Do nothing.

They won't turn your head green, brass (or whatever) simply doesn't corrode
that quickly. Any discoloration will rub off on your head at a rate of maybe
twelve molecules per day. If you shower at least once a month, no one will
ever notice.

Buy expensive, cry once.
Buy cheap, cry every time you use it.

I bought an expensive pair of frames years ago. The optomitrist
stated that I needed new frames so he could make a larger profit. I
could either keep the frames or dump the optomistrist. Well, I dumped
the optomistrist and got Lasik--no more glasses.

If they ever figure out how to fix presbyopia, I'll be signing up.
