If I get really, really bored I might do it. Not saying there's any
guarantee it'll make any difference, but one never knows.

I edited my rules to see if that reduces it. I didnt reactivate the full
'kill all @gmail.com' as there are several I talk with who use that but dont
mung the outbound address well enough to get past that.

Killing everything with a From address @gmail.com is the wrong approach on two
grounds:
1) it unnecessarily drops a lot of useful traffic from people who happen to
have email addresses in the gmail domain but are *not* posting through Google
Groups, and
2) it fails to drop useless traffic that *does* originate from Google Groups
that happens to *not* have a From address @gmail.com.

The proper filter to drop the junk posted through Google Groups is one that
examines the MessageID header for "google.com".

Since I'm one of the dummies who has a gmail address & uses google
groups and I'm too lazy (or stupid) to change my procedures.....I
report spam in the newsgroups that I visit in hopes that it has an
effect. But who knows.

Avnery is an idiot. You can't make peace with enemies (i.e., India/Pakistan,
N&S Korea, etc.). You can only make peace with the utterly vanquished.

traffic that *is* spam. That's a rather peculiar definition of "works".

Grin, thats why I worked on my filters a bit more. So far, working well
enough today. Killing all who use googlegroups is even worse than @gmail.
Meantime, appreciate folks like you who report!

Thats true. I can also enter 'exceptions'. Meantime, havent killed @gmail.
Worked on the filters instead. I dont like to miss the good folks and a
little spam doesnt bother me. Just when it's almost all spam.

Google is aware of the problem, but no one has a solution.
