Default Any bird watchers here?

Can anyone identigy this bird? It hit my window pretty good this
morning and I was just wondering what type it is. it appears to me to
be some type of woodpecker.

In Sacramento, Ca. I figured that it is some type of wood pecker, just
not sure which. It almost looks like a Gila Woodpecker, see here

But the male of the species has red on his head, not on his throat.

That's a problem I noticed with a log of the photo sites -- they don't
have pictures of both sexes.

A red shafted northern flicker. A member of the woodpecker family, and a
beautiful bird.

Be very careful! Birding is as addictive as home repair. rec.birds has a
