Default for medicare users: what's some good EXTRA insurance?

(Yes, off topic for this group, but surely of interest
to everyone approaching or over age 65 -- especially with
politicians of both parties trying to cut *all* govt
services.)

MY QUESTION: for medicare users: what's some good EXTRA insurance?

I keep hearing horror-stories about medicare refusing to cover things.

Worse even, I keep hearing horror-stories about doctors (especially specialists)
*refusing* to take medicare patients. (Don't get paid enough?)

So, what's a GOOD place to get some EXTRA coverage?

Someone suggested AARP, but then someone else said they'd heard that
AARP wasn't so good, that it was too expensive, considering the
benefits you (didn't) get.

Ideas?

THANKS!

David

Assuming you have Parts A & B, the big guys (Humana, Aetna, etc.) are
competitive. Further, Medicare itself has a program to waive the Part B
premium (about $100/month).

I think the determining factor, for some, is the formulary for Part D. If
you take an expensive drug that's on company A's list but missing from
company B, this could amount to several hundred dollars per year difference.

My wife and I have used Sterling for that last few years. They have several
plans..something for every budget. As low as $15 per month on top of what
you pay for Medicare (parts A, B, and D) I've used the cheapest with no
problem as I don't use much medicine..My wife about $150 per month for her
plan because of her extensive meds..but then she only has a copay for med on
the most expensive brand name meds. check out www.sterlingplans.com . We
originally signed with them because they were one of only two companies that
wrote supplement plans in Illinois for pre age 65 medicare patients.

here's a recipe:
- lots of garlic
- smoked fish
-wild mushrooms
-lots of sex
-no smoke, no drugs
- no junk food ( majority of bland " american diet" is in that
category)
-lots of moving your ass
-no debt ( pay off your house or better yet - pay cash for it to own
it outright) = better sleep
- no stupid tv ( cable included)....

then you will be one happy camper, will be at excellent health /
stamina and won't need to see doctors at all....
DID I MENTION THE TERM " AMERICAN DREAM" ?

I have had the AARP supplement for 14 years. I have not had to pay for
anything except a cane and some prescriptions. Medicare D is a rip off.
My income is low so I can get prescriptions free direct from the
manufacturer.
