Looking to install a new AC unit. 2.5T outdoor with a 3T coil.
Maratherm for around $2,200 or a comfortmaker for around $3,000. Any advice?

Don't wait 11 years to announce it. o_O

Booby Villain, you certainly seem to be infatuated with gerbils. It's OK, they're cute little animals. ^_^

Never heard of either of those brands. Eqpt needs to be matched, not
sure why you'd install a 3 ton coil on a 2.5 ton compressor, but that
coil may be good for either 3 or 2.5. Did you get several quotes?
Check the warranties? Reputation of the installers? I've had decades
of experience with Rheem/Ruud and satisified with them. A lot less
than name brands like Carrier, but IMO just as reliable. In 30 years
of experience, I had 3 problems:

1 - A compressor failed, got just the compressor replaced. That was
the most expensive repair, about $600, 25 years ago.

2 - A ten year old unit needed a hard start kit installed because it
was blowing fuses. It worked fine for another 15 years until I
replaced the whole system, including new gas furnace

3 - That new system had one of those fancy ECM motors on the condenser
fan. It failed when 4 years old. I replaced it with a PSC motor
for $90.

That is all I spent on repairs.
