How do I repair a bent tree
I have a 3 or 4 year old weeping willow in my yard. It had a rough
start and was unable to support itself until late last year. As a result of the many support items used, the tree got a cut in its bark and created a "bend" It is about 30 degrees sharply. I was wondering if there is some sort of Splint or bracket which would straighten the trunk right where it is needed. The whole tree is not bent, just a 2 foot section. Any Suggestions? Thanks |

Thanks IMHO, the tree will try and straighten itself trying to grow towards the sun. However you might have to wait a while. Good luck, tom @ www.FindMeShelter.com |

How do I repair a bent tree
I use a T-post driven next to the trunk on the side of the direction I want it to go, then make or buy a saddle (the commercial ones I've had were rubber, like tire sidewall). then you just put gentle pressure on it to grow the way you want. It takes time, perhaps years, but it didn't get that way overnight. |

A constant feeding of Viagra should make it stand proud.

Thanks It's a weeping willow. Just make sure it gets lots of water and leave it alone. :-) -- Joseph Meehan Dia duit |

or:
maybe start up some new ones: "Almost all willows take root very readily from cuttings or where broken branches lie on the ground. " see more info at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willow pruning info at: http://www.urbantree.org/training_young_trees.asp check the planting zone and the subspecies. there are many varieties and sizes of these. do you want a dwarf or a 50-foot variety? see tree nurseries sites such as such as: http://greenwoodnursery.com/page.cfm/5056 wayne wrote: I have a 3 or 4 year old weeping willow in my yard.
