Default Reducing bugs around patio / pool

I live in heavily wooded area so it is already a buggy place, but when
you had a swimming pool to the equation it can get pretty nasty. I am
looking around for a good mosquito killer to cover about a 1/2 - 1
acre. I know there are those bug zappers that make that annoying
zzzzzt sound whenever they kill a bug...if I got one of those it would
be zzzzzting all night long.

Can anyone recommend a good way to reduce the bugs surrounding their
backyard pool & patio? What has worked well for you?

Thanks for your ideas in advance..

Hi Dee5,

You might not believe this, but we're using Bounce and moth balls.

I can't say it'll work for you, but we have a 30 ft pool and woods all
around
and the pool lights and patio lights can attract thousands of them,
so while looking through my email, my daughter sent me one about
Bounce fabric sheets and we've been using them since for quite a few
things,
and nothing beats moth balls for keeping skunks away, along with other
pesky varmits.

Hope it works for you too!

Mr. Kool

================================
Discovered about 20 years ago that a water garden with fish and
plants work extremely good.... I had two areas next to the pool that
were a pain to cut using my lawn tractor...simply dug two holes about
2 foot deep and about 8x10 ft in size... to landscape area next to the
pool and avoid cutting the grass ...MAJOR Benifit was that the bugs
dissapeared ...fish and frogs do a wonderful job ....

What do you mean bounce and moth balls? What do you do with them to
make them work?

Thanks.

Well, we just hung the sheets around the area on different items like,
hanging baskets, or just wad them up in a small ball and stick them in
small places, same with the
moth balls, but closer to the ground and scattered, after a few days,
there wasn't a bug or mosquito in sight, now we can just sit around on
the patio or work in the secret garden area, where we also have some
plants that are repeling bugs, we also stick
bounce sheets in our belts or shoes and that seems to be a good bug
repellant also.

Later,
mrkool
