Tile Floor
I am wanting to take up the tile on my kitchen floor. I was wondering how
hard a task that is and how I could go about doing it. ____________________________________ Posted via Homerepairlive.com http://www.homerepairlive.com |

Tile Floor
It can be difficult depending on the type of tile you have. I took up all
the tile in my kitchen without a problem. I used a sledgehammer, a prybar, and a floor scraper to make short work of it. The difficult part is under the tile. In order to lay the new tile down you may need to grind down or scrape off the thinset that is left on the floor. If you are lucky than the previous owner will have laid the new tile over a vinyl slipsheet making the thinset problem a non issue. It was very easy to rip up the tile in my kitchen as it was glossy and cracked very easily. I am not sure exactly what type of tile it was. However, the tile in my bathroom as whole other story. It was an adobe type tile that really didn't want to come up. It took a lot of sledghammer wacking to clear that small room. I think it took three times as long as my bigger kitchen. All in all it's a messy job, but I really enjoy demolition like this. It is definitely a stress reliever. And on the upside you will save a lot of money demoing the tile yourself instead of paying someone to do it.
