Slight Grit in Home Water
We just moved in an old trailer, and seem to notice slight grit in the
water, particularly coming out of the shower. Sometime back I washed an old pot and it had that "taste" in it, thought it was because it was an old pot--after all, other dishes I washed seemed fine--but meanwhile we just now managed to fix our hot water in our shower, and I've noticed some gritty taste in my mouth after showering. What is the likely cause of this? Incidentally, the main pipes underneath are PVC plastic, making this even stranger. LRH |

Slight Grit in Home Water
Take a black pot (very clean) fill it with water and let it get to a rolling
boil. Then turn it off and let it sit for awhile. Then see if anything (grit) has settled in the bottom. If the grit is white then it would be limestone. Which is what I just found out about the house we just bought. I have county water and it was 19 grains of hardness with limestone deposits in it, so far it has cost me 1900.00 to make my water clean and grit free. We had to get a water softner and a carbon/charcoal filter. Searcher |

Get your water tested. A filter or two and perhaps a softener are in order. |

Flushing the heater might help, as might putting a filter on the incoming water. |
