Default Robomower Battery Pack

I have had a robomower for about 2 years and absolutely love it. However,
the battery pack needs to be replaced. The replacement packs are expensive,
but the batteries are fairly cheap. Has anyone busted the case open and
replaced the batteries inside? If so, what was the procedure and what
batteries did you use to replace the old ones with??

Thanks in Advance!
