fencing cost
Would anyone have any idea how much about 70 feet of fencing would cost
in Berks Co., PA? Installation included. Is there a per foot average? The least expensive would be preferred as this is a rental and I want it for my dogs. 4 feet tall is fine. Is cyclone fencing the cheapest? I realize it's a tough question to answer but any advise/suggestions are appreciated. I just want to know if I'd be looking at $1000 or $5000. bonnie |

Thanks Doug
Would anyone have any idea how much about 70 feet of fencing would cost
in Berks Co., PA? Why would you not simply call a few fence companies and ask? Thank you, thank you, thank you, Doug. FINALLY someone says something like this. I have waited for the longest time for this kind of answer. The questions on this NG are becoming more silly by the day. A man wants fencing in Berks County PA. Who does he go to for an estimate? Literally anyone on the planet with internet access. Who in heavens name does he hope to do the work? Some guy named Sven from Stockholm? Make some local calls and get estimates from the people that are going to eventually do the work and hand you the bill. 4 or 5 calls .....tops. I feel better. |

I'd vote for welded wire fence (about 10 cents per square foot) and $4 6.5' T-posts from Tractor Supply, with a $20 T-post pounder. This makes a fence that costs less than $1 per linear foot. Nick |

fencing cost
realize it's a tough question to answer but any advise/suggestions are
appreciated. I just want to know if I'd be looking at $1000 or $5000. In northern NJ using all cedar round rails and posts, 300 linear ft. with 2x4 mesh wire attached, and one gate, plus ~60 ft. of cedar picket fence facing the street with two gates, one double and one single cost me about $2000, self-installed and hog tight for the Basset. Luckily the soil on my lot is like butter in the spring except for some roots and random small rocks here and there. Just needed a post hole digger and shale bar. Now in PA you might hit some more serious @#$@#%% under the turf. Good luck |

"Doug Kanter" wrote: $20 T-post pounder Before using this tool, call for buried utility locations. Scary story on request. Oooh....gas line? Fireworks? Nah, it was just a phone drop. No big deal, right? Wrong. Fortunately, no one was DEAD wrong. These brainless twits hammered t-posts for tomato tower support in their garden - carefully planted DIRECTLY over the utility easement including 8,000-volts of electric service. The darned transformer on its pad, clearly marked with danger labels, was barely ten feet away! The t-post severed their neighbor's 5-pair telephone drop. When I first surveyed the scene, what could *I* do? The t-post could be a FOOT away from the high voltage or mere millimeters. I couldn't just walk up to the thing and start yanking on it or even be anywhere NEAR it. I called the power utility. That tech, with his 35k-insulated rubber gloves and me wearing my 20k-insulated gloves, grabbed the t-post and worked it back out of the ground without incident. I dug-up and repaired the damaged phone drop. The fortunate-to-be-alive dweeb neighbor could have bought the most expensive tomatoes from the most expensive store for years for the amount they were billed for the damage they caused. Nevermind they were rather lucky to simply still be alive. Call before you dig. Everyone pays for the "free" service, so you might as well be SAFE rather than sorry - or dead. -- JR |

In article .com,
" wrote: underground high voltage lines should be required by law to be protected my metal conduit or plastic armored conduit. Ha! ...and you think your electric bill is high today? Conduit would NOT have saved the customer pounding-in t-posts. It would have gone right through plastic conduit or so severely damaged anything armored that it would have to be dug-up and fixed anyway. The overall CO$T for placing all buried primary power cables in conduit would VASTLY (and I mean beyond comprehension) outstrip the cost of damage done to the unarmored stuff. Call before you dig. -- JR |
