Default 48 Inch Vanity between 2 walls...But 49 inch top wont fit

I have a 48 inch width between two walls with a current 48" vanity.
The vanity fits very snug.

On top, there is a cultured marble top, but it appears to only be about
48 inches to fit between the walls.

Any new vanity tops i see only come in 49 inch versions (to allow a
little overhang).

However, 49 inches wont fit between the walls unless i cut into the
sheetrock on each side.

Any ideas? Do you think the previous owner actually cut the old vanity
top to make it fit?

Sounds like he bought a custom-made marble top, which is probably what
you'll have to do. Or, you could cut down a 49" top. If you intend to caulk
around the top where it meets the walls, you should be able to hide any cut
marks. If it's got a backsplash, then things get interesting, and maybe
you're back to the custom idea.

Notch out the sheet rock; better than cutting that stuff.
Cheaper, too.

Thats why they make a thing called a concrete saw blade.
Or have someone with the proper tools cut it for you.

Of course you could rip down the walls and rebuild them with 2x3's
instead of 2x4's, and then you'll have to add a few 1x2's and laths to
come out right.

Or, make your own top out of plywood and put some vinyl flooring on
it, or ceramic tile.

Then there's one other option...... MOVE !!!!
