Default Gas stove Ignition: How ?

Hi,

Have a new gas stove for the kitchen with the pilotless ignition system

Just wondering how it works.

You first put it on the first detent, and then there's a repetitive
"clicking" sound until it ignites.

What is happening, actually ?

Is it a piezo type of ignition, where a piezo element is being deformed,
somehow, to generate a voltage and a subsequent spark ?

What's the clicking noise ?

Is electric involved somehow in the process ?

Its got a high voltage transformer somewhere in the stove. When you
turn to the detent it turns the gas on but also makes a switch that
sends power to the igniter transformer

For piezo ignition you must repeatedly push or turn a handle....this
pulls back and releases a hammer or an object that strikes the
piezo...which you kind of knew that...
