Default connecting faucet to enclosure

hello-

i have a shower enclosure, and the "lower" faucet (i'm not sure what to call
it, but it's what you use when you fill a bath) is disconnected from the
enclosure.

what i mean is, when this was installed 5 years ago, the faucet was attached
to the tub enclosure by some sort of glue or something.

the faucet is still attached to the pipe, and there are no leaks, but i can
pull on the faucet and it comes away from the enclosure wall about 1/2".

what should i use to reseal this? the faucet looks like chrome but i believe
is actually some sort of plastic.

thanks!

CAREFULLY pull it away, and squeeze in a bead of some good-quality bathroom
caulk. This should keep you good to go for another bunch of years.

Sounds like someone didn't follow the building code, nor was it inspected.
That faucet, or at the very least the pipe, should've been securely anchored
to a nearby stud or cross member. It should never depend on the flimsy
enclosure plastic. The only "right way" to fix this is to get into the wall
and mount it properly. If the other side of the wall is accessible,
consider this a good time to repaint that room.
