Cracked-tile floors
I don't know what the offical name for this is.
These floors were common here in the 1950's and 60's on porches, in beach and lake houses. I have tried doing web searches but I keep getting articles and questions related to a floor or tile that has cracked. Years ago I found some info on DIY for these floors with contrasting advice. One site said it was relatively simple another that it really required a professional. I would appreciate any information about how these are made , any web sites and pictures. The ones I have seen usually have terracotta and tan colored tiles. Does anyone have any pictures of floors done with white and cream colors, various colored tiles or patterns ? Sometimes different types of tiles are used, and sometimes hole and broken tiles are used together. These floors seem to have held up well in the beach houses here built in the 50's . I am wondering why they fell out of favor. Were these inexpensive to install when they were common ? thank you. |
