Default Help! Winterize above ground pool

Got it mid summer and the company who installed it says they can't give
advice (legal reasons??) and their installers were 'independent contractors'
who I can't get a hold of now.
But, I need advice on what to do to winterize it? I've already had ice form
on the top and had to go out there and take care of that. Someone said I
should run the pump all winter, but I don't know if that's the right thing
to do or not. Basically.. what do most people do?
I live in Texas, by the way.. our lowest temp for winter isn't lower than
high 20s.
Run the pump all winter? If so, how much does that raise the electric bill?
Or, drain enough water out so it doesn't go through and turn the pump off,
then hit it good with the 'shocker' chemical this spring?
Any advice appreaciated.. thank you
