Default Dishwasher not draining

My 3-4 year old dishwasher won't drain properly. I
cannot see anything clogging up the drain area. How
can I fix this? Thanks, Rosalie

The drain hose may be bent too tightly.
If it drains into the disposal, the port on the disposal may be blocked.
If there is an air-gap device (top of sink), it may be clogged.
There could be an internal problem in the dishwasher (drain solenoid
valve/pump, etc.).

Sometimes it's helpful to disconnect the drain hose from the sink
connection, put it in a bucket and *briefly* run the machine.
If still no drainage, the problem is inside the machine.

ooooohhhhh... I'm working this problem, actually a slow drain, on my
9 yr. old GE profile.

Turns out there is a piston/seal check valve mechanism in the output
side of the pump on the drain side. Essentially, pump solenoid closes
to push water out the drain hose, into this 'box' and then out the
drain line to the sink connection.

Well, there's a spring loaded piston and seal that when it goes to
drain pushes up and seals the hole above it and lets all the water go
out the drain line. This thing is behind a screen in the bottom rear
section. You can take it out by just unscrewing it from the top. In
fact, it looks like this:

On mine, the rubber has gotten a lot smaller in diameter and isn't
sealing well so it does drain but slowly since some of the water is
going past it and back into the tub.

This may or may not be your problem but .... worth a look to see
if you have one of these....

Bob
