Default Front Loading Washer Door Conspiracy?

Why do all front loading washer doors open with the hinge on the
left. It would make sense for there to be two options since many
homes have the dryer hookup on the left side and it makes if difficult
to load the dryer on the left if the washer door is opening in the
way.

I have checked several stores and 100% of the front loading washers
had the hinge on the same side and you cannot even special order
anything different.

My guess of the reason why... unlike dryers, whose door direction can often
be switched, front loading washers need a very tight door seal to keep water
from leaking out. To keep the door seal tight over the life of the
appliance the door structure can't be allowed to bend or deform, so the
hinge side needs to be much sturdier than the latch side does to keep it
stable when the door is open. Making two mirror image versions of this
would increase the cost, as would making both sides sturdy enough that the
door direction could be switched in the field. Older top loading washers
could be unloaded easily in either direction since the usually left-opening
lid can be opened to lie flat, so the washer-dryer orientation wouldn't
matter (in fact one might prefer the dryer to be on the left so that the wet
clothes can be first placed upon the open lid of the washer).

I remember the washing machine in the home where I was a kid. It was a
Westinghouse front loader hinged at the bottom. The door, which was
suspended when open by springs, served also as a weighing device so that the
proper water level could be set. With such a washer either side would do
for a dryer (our dryer was an outdoor clothesline, all year long). But it
was inconvenient to transfer clothes to/from a clothes basket on the floor.

It's not difficult to install the appliances vice-versa from the hookups if
necessary, using suitable extra long hoses, pipes, and cords.
