I want to buy a front loading washing machine and (sort of) have it
narrowed down to Speed Queen, Samsung or Miele. I would be grateful
for any real world comments about such washers from anyone who has
owned any of these brands. Bosch seems to have a poor track record in
terms of construction and service.

I am also looking into buying a home-sized commercial Speed Queen.

We installed a Bosch when we remodeled 3 years ago and it has been
completely trouble-free. We considered a Miele but it was substantially
more expensive.

I've read quite a few forum and epinons comments about broken handles
and bad mold issues in Bosch washers. If you have a Miele installed by
an authorized Miele person, the company adds another year to the
warranty. If you buy it with a credit card there's an excellent chance
that Visa or Mastercard will extend the warranty by one year. A three
year warranty on a Miele seems attractive.

But there is a $500-700 price difference between the Bosch and Miele. I
just can't wrap my mind around spending over $1500 for a washer no
matter how wonderful. Also, it doesn't look like Miele washers are
energy star rated - is that right? This surprises me.
