OK to force soap through holes in clothes washer drum?
When you put powdered detergent in a top loading (drum) clothes washer, is
it OK to force most of the detergent beneath the holes in the bottom of the drum before the cycle starts? The idea is to make it dissolve better in water so there's less chance of residue on clothes. This laundromat machine has no detergent dispenser cup. I understand there are two nested drums in a typical clothes washer. One is the perforated drum you put the clothes in and the other surrounds it and contains the water. The holes in the top drum allow water to enter and leave, to make rinsing possible. In theory you shouldn't lose any detergent by pushing it into the bottom tub first. True? If the machine has a top lint filter you can add powder detergent to
that. I usually just put the detergent in a small pail and add hot water, then add to the machine. |
