curious about blueprints for older homes
This is something that's lightly bothered me each time I move into a
"new" house, so here I am asking. Whenever I move, I always think it would be really cool to have the original blueprints to the house. One reason is just to see what the house originally looked like, another is practical: to know where the wiring and plumbing are in case I want to remodel. It seems to me a very practical thing to have. I realize that after some number of years, the house floorplan probably no longer matches the original prints, but I still think it would be better than groping around for the wiring and/or cutting walls open searching for it. I've been told that nobody keeps the prints so after 10 or 20 years they're simply not available anymore. I know that homes are remodelled all the time without looking back to the original prints, so there's obviously no problem with not having them. Am I alone in thinking they'd be useful? -- - Sharon "Gravity... is a harsh mistress!" |
