Mulching kit MTD rider mower.

mtd sells an oem mulch kit for my rider, the original kit was
oem-190-112, which was an easy install plug, but is no longer produced.
now, the newest mulch kit is OEM-190-116. This kit serves the same
purpose, however, most parts included must be installed by multiple
drill holes- anyone else familiar with this & is the original LESS
effective? is this reason for the change?
