Default Potentiometer Identification (?)

This pot is the volume-control for a tuner-amp. It has a very smooth feel, obviously not
wire-wound. In use, it has gotten very staticky. I'd like to know if a blast of contact
cleaner would help, or destroy it. Is it a carbon wiper type? If I disassemble it, will tiny
parts and springs go flying all over?
