Why is it that in cartoons a character can use a TV remote ona TV set that has a rotary tuner?

because cartoons aren't real.

I think remotes were made for VHF sets with rotary tuners, something was
added to turn the rotor.

like what works the volume knob on some equipment, only bigger.

Cartoons are allowed to have dual-use tuners.

What like a remote-controlled motor that turns the tuner? I hear that the
RCA Two Thousand used this for the UHF. Could the senser be concealed in
the center of the dial perhaps?
