While not all encompassing, this is a good little how-to. I must warn
you. If you have not done this before, there is a risk of injury from high voltages so be forewarned and read up on discharging the CRT. Good luck. http://www.macopz.com/columns/imacrepair/ |

Make sure the replacement is not dated in summer of 2004. Apparently most
of that batch are failing. This is one case where I might look for an aftermarket sub, preferably from HR. However, it is best not to mess with it if you don't have experience working on television output stages. Leonard "RodG" wrote in message ... Check our the http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/REPAIR site produced by Sam
Goldwasser, great reading on safety and general repair procedures. "Leonard Caillouet" wrote in message news:rPS2e.96459$SF.73419@lakeread08... [quote=Art]Well I do build computers as a hobby with out any problem. You all really shared some valuable information regarding the safety of this part. I know for a fact it is this part and I will see if I can find the information unless someone has the instructions on discharging the FBT. I really want to be caustious. Thanks for the continued help.

The flyback doesn't store any charge, just leave the set off for a few minutes and it should discharge itself, then to be doubly safe, ground a screwdriver to the metal strap around the back of the tube and poke it under the suction cup looking anode cap, if there's any charge remaining you might hear a small snap of static electricity as it discharges. |

Do NOT try and discharge under the Anode cap.
Just leave that alone ... kip "James Sweet" wrote in message news:N6r3e.3061$pU5.93@trnddc06... "RodG" wrote in message ... Art Wrote: Well I do build computers as a hobby with out any problem.
