Hi,
I have a Sony SLV-N71 VCR. Recently it has started to show a blank blue screen during video playback. The unit records perfectly fine as I have tried recorded tapes in other VCRs. It is just during playback that it will intermittemtly just show a blank blue screen. Please help! Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Joe |

First thing is to clean it, especially the audio / control head (near the
pinch roller). The control track head gap is the lower one on that tape head. The tape could be skewing so the track isn't being read. DO NOT adjust this head, unless some moron was already adjusting it. Examine the back tension band for possible problems. Sony had NO parts or service literature for these throwaway models.
