Default Now I have a problem

Hi;

The place I been at for over a decade is slowed down. I decided to take another
job, have talked to the owner and am going there next week.

Yes I'm staying, but I'll also work there. I have most of my tool deficiencies
fixed, except for one. I need a good ESR meter, and I need it fast.

I need a good ESR meter.

I'd like to hear the best ideas, really do need one, I built one out of a
scope at the old place, but that is theirs.

What's my best bet here ?

I wouldn't go past Bob Parker's ESR meter (DSE kit # K7214):

Cost is AU$72 plus freight.

Or from John's Jukes in Vancouver BC IIRC.

I would also chime in with praise for the Bob Parker meter. I just
built one last month that I ordered from John's Jukes and have very
positive things to say about them too. Very fast delivery and excellent
communication.
BTW I felt the solder included with the meter was substandard and too
large (.030"). I already mentioned this to Bob. I used .020" silver
bearing and made shinier joints and had a much easier time with the
small components.
I also used to use a function generator I had built with a O scope to
check caps. Bob's meter is much easier and faster to use. I used to
waste a lot of time hunting for that proto board that I built the
generator on. Plus you can check low value resistors with Bob's meter.

I just purchased this kit from John Juke's myself and just began to build it
last night. Got all the diodes and resistors soldered into place, but ran
out of time so will need to get back to putting in caps and transistors when
I get some free time. Price was US $64.95 (they are in Canada) plus $10
shipping. They shipped out a day after I placed the order and I had it
(Chicago area) within a week.

Can't comment on how it works just yet, but have heard nothing but good
about this ESR II (Bob Parker) design.
