Default Daewoo 42" Plasma TV

Are these sets relatively problem free? My bro has one, and one year and a day
the display stays off. Everything looks like power is on, but no video is
displayed. He did not get extended warranty and is unhappy for the holidays. I
think most likely a power supply problem. The set does run quite warm at the
top, and consumes ~360 watts.
Anyone have any suggestions, or comments on this model? thanks!

Daewoo is junk, it's a Korean brand, the only suggestions I have other than
buying a name brand (Sony, Hitachi, Panasonic, etc) next time is to take it
to a shop and hope it's something simple.

This can be the power supply, or the main display driver board, or the main
display itself. These are normally serviced at the modular level. You will
have to get in touch with the Daewoo rep to have it serviced.

I would recommend changing it for a quality brand name unit. In the long
run, the big brand name units are less troublesome. Also, get an extended
warranty with your new set (longest possible). These sets can be
dramatically expensive to service if there is no service agreement.
