Help to replace LCD on Gateway FPD1800 FPD 1800 FPD-1800 made by LG Electronics (Goldstar?)
A friend of mine bought this 18" monitor on EBAY.
Looks like someone punched it, obvious damage to the liquid crystals. He's asked me to bail him out of his blunder if I can. Anyone know where I can order the TFT for this bugger, hopefully at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance DM |

Thanks in advance I seriously doubt replacing the TFT will be cost effective, it will be horrendously expensive and virtually as expensive as a whole new monitor. If it arrived broken, I'd take the matter up with the seller and/or the courier. Dave |

Help to replace LCD on Gateway FPD1800 FPD 1800 FPD-1800 made by LG Electronics (Goldstar?)
The LCD panel is virtually the entire cost of the monitor and generally
isn't even offered for sale separately. I hope that thing was insured, not a chance it's worth repairing. "Dave Moore" wrote in message ... A friend of mine bought this 18" monitor on EBAY. "Dave Moore" wrote in message ... Thanks Mike, Dave and James. That's pretty much what I figured, that the cost of the display might excessive. He bought it "as is" on EBAY. Guess he can chalk it up as a lesson learned )`: Thanks again DM Didn't the buyer contact the seller before bidding to ask about its general condition? It seems the obvious thing to do with it being described 'as is'. Just out of curiousity, how much did he lose on it? Dave |

yeah, he plans to re-sell for parts,
and even explain thet the TFT is bad. I feel kinda bad because before he bought this thing he asked me if I could fix a Flat screen display with intereference in the picture? and I said, yes probably so. However, I didn't know that the so-called intereference was damaged crystals, or, that he was going to buy the monitor on eBay. )`: =^^=DM "Frank Bemelman" wrote in message ... Some may need it for the enclosure or whatever. -- Thanks, Frank Bemelman (remove 'x' & .invalid when sending email) |

Dave Not sure what he lost, but awhile back he mentioned that he could get a couple of broken flat screen monitors for about $40 ea. Had I known that he was going to get them on eBay, I would have told him to find out more in advance about the "interference" problem that they supposedly had. )`: It just never occurred to me at the time that someone not in the know would think that the symptom of a damaged display, where the thing was melted by a hot light bulb, or hit with a fist, could be perceived as "interference". =^^=DM |
