I have a Sony V402A VCR remote. Some of the functions have quit
working (Slow, Enter). The Sony manual is no help. Batteries fresh.
Has anyone run into this?

You might try disassembling and cleaning the pcb contact areas and the
button contact areas with a Q-tip moistened with 99% isopropyl
alcohol. Do not get excessively vigorous with scrubbing: The contact
areas may be silk-screened conductive paint (esp: buttons) rather than
metal.

Thanks. I tried the cleaning but no help. So, I found a new remote on
Ebay for $13.
That solved the problem.
