I WANT TO BUY MY NEW LAPTOP ANYBODY TELL ME BEST ONE I DON"T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTERS Why would you ask in a newsgroup devoted to the repair of electronic devices? Even repairing computers is a stretch here, given that most computer "repair" is board replacement, but it's no place to ask about buying computers, and no newsgroup is the place to ask a question with all caps. There are loads and loads of computer-related newsgroups, and your question belongs in there. Even a consumer-oriented newsgroup would be way more appropriate than sci.electronics.repair. Michael |

Makes we want to ask: if you don't know anything about computers...why the hell do you want one? |

Makes we want to ask: if you don't know anything about computers...why the hell do you want one? The C-64 was a 40 column NTSC display as shipped, and the adapter WAS 80 column. I had one that I used with Speedscript for word processing. BTW, the C128 had both 40 column NTSC and 80 Column CGA video outputs. You could add more video ram and switch video RAM in banks to change what was displayed instead of having to wait for the screen to update. I wrote some software that had the menu in one section, and each of several subroutines switched to another bank to do their work, then switched back to the menu for the next task. Also, there was software to display up to 50 lines of text on the 80 column C128. -- Service to my country? Been there, Done that, and I've got my DD214 to prove it. Member of DAV #85. Michael A. @s48g2000cws.googlegroups.com: I WANT TO BUY MY NEW LAPTOP ANYBODY TELL ME BEST ONE I DON"T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTERS I have a Toshiba Satellite that I am happy with even though it's running Windows Vista. As far as "Best One" is concerned, that's kind of a matter of opinion, not fact. What's your budget and what are you planning on doing with it? |
