Get a Mac. You can use it just fine and never need to have any

Then you dont need the best one. Save yourself a grand and get a more
than satisfactory one for £300. Avoid one with windows vista whatever
you do, it will turn a perfectly good machine into a slug.

It would be very hard to find a new laptop that isnt more than
adequate nowadays, so you can mostly shop on price.
