Magnavox RS2745-C208 TV help?
Howdy, folks! I've got a TV set with the above make and model number. The
main power regulator is an STR30130 that _might_ be okay, because it doesn't appear to be shorted. I think the set's actual power problem came from another power supply circuit's main filter capacitor opening up, and I've fixed that. But the STR30130 can't pass any current through because one of the resistors (R432) going to Pin 2 has burnt open. I cannot read the color bands on this resistor. It appears to be a quarter-watt resistor but can't even make a guess as to what its value should be. Can anyone tell me what value this resistor should be, please? R432. Thanks!!! Matt J. Magnavox RS2745-C208 TV help?
Hello. R432 is 1k 1/2 watt. But if it's bad you should replace C432 100uf@250V. Thats the reason for R432 burning up. Good luck! Lloyd Matt J. McCullar wrote: Howdy, folks! I'll try that out Monday. I've already replaced a big filter cap in there; it was totally open. And I think that's the one you're talking about! Thanks again! I do appreciate the help. Matt J. Magnavox RS2745-C208 TV help?
I would suggest that you bring the set up on a variac and make sure it
is regulating before applying full ac line voltage. The regulator could still be bad internally and the little helper transistor next to it could also be damaged. If it regulates ok as you bring up the variac, then you can run test it for a couple of days both cold and hot. Matt J. McCullar wrote: wrote in message ups.com... Hello. R432 is 1k 1/2 watt. I've already got a replacement regulator on order and the small transistor next to it tests OK. Thanks for the help! |

That did the trick. I replaced that burned resistor with a new one of the aforementioned value and it works beautifully. Thanks for taking the time to help out a fellow tech! Hope I can repay the favor sometime. Matt J. McCullar Arlington, TX |

"kip" wrote in message .. . But did you replace the Cap as well ? frank Yes, indeed. In fact, I found that cap and replaced it before I saw the burned resistor upstream from it. |
