Toshiba Projector TV- sound but picture goes out.
Hi,
A relative gave me his old Toshiba big screen TV this past weekend. Works good most of the time except sometimes the picture goes out. Here are the symptoms: - Sounds works fine - Doesn't matter if TV has been on 5 hours or 5 minutes - Picture goes black, including the on-screen display (like if you are changing channels) - Tapping the TV lightly on the side restores the picture, until it goes out again. I'd rather not keep having to hit the TV for it to work. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Any clues where to look? Thanks! |

I'd check for bad solder joints. Maybe beyond your ability if you have never
soldered anything. There is also the danger of high voltage when working inside of a tv. Someone who doesn't know whats what inside a tv can end up dead fast. Read this http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/safety.htm and you might want to browse around http://www.repairfaq.org What is the brand model number and chasis model number & year of manufacture. Depending on the type of projection tv this is will determine where you need to check. There are 3 types of projection TV's CRT, LCD, DLP. If it is old odds are it is CRT. wrote in message oups.com... Hi, A relative gave me his old Toshiba big screen TV this past weekend. This sound like a cold solder. It is best to get it properly serviced. It is
possible for a cold solder connection to eventually cause other faults as well. Many times, the service tech can usually locate these in about an hour or so. If the set is in good condition, it would be worth the investment. -- JANA _____ wrote in message oups.com... Hi, A relative gave me his old Toshiba big screen TV this past weekend.
