Default RCA TV F31224GG / CTC169AT2 Dead

I have an rca tv with ctc169at2 chassis
The set is dead, the normal 1 second sound of the power supply charging
can be heard
when the line coard is connected, but after that nothing, no relay , no
buzzing or cycling, it does not attempt to start in any way.
so far all I have doen is check the Hor Out transistor & it tests fine.
I repaired a tone of bad solder joints but still no go.

does any one have any ideas as to what might cause this problem or
where I should start looking as I have no schematics for this chassis?

Thanks in advance, Roger

Most likely one of the outputs of the power supply section may have
failed, or there is something else failed that is pulling it down, or
there is a failure in one of the scan areas that is causing a no-start
condition.

Without taking measurements and referencing to the proper
specifications, it is impossible to make any exact determination.

To service your set you will require some of the basic tools to start
with, the service manual, and a good knowlede of TV trouble-shooting.

It would most likely be more feasible for you to give the set out to a
service centre for service.

Take care that there are serious safety issues when servicing TV sets.

Roger:

If you need any schematics, I can send you some sections as .jpg files.

I can tell you exactly how to repair this unit... as I have worked on
hundreds... I will need you to do some tests with and with out the
power on...
1. with the set plug in measure vdc at C of HOT( us its heatsink for
ground) if higher than 150 replace the 2.2@100v cap I cant remember the
location # but it lives right next to the chopper control ic
2. test cr4118 for at least 13vdc at the cathode if it is low replace
it NTE580 is fine. it lives right next to the switchmode tranx (one of
the secondary supplies)
do these things and let me know

A ton of bad solder joints in a 169?

Tom

By the way...very well-documented chassis, and a Google search will
likely yield some answers, however...there are specific tests to be
done in some cases that are outside of the ordinary run-of-the-mill
tests.

Replace the PWM reg IC (TDE2261), & all the electrolytic capacitors
around it, & check the horizontal output B +, & CR 4118, like the guys
said. You must replace these parts, to ensure it will stay working. Sky.

I measured vdc @ C of Q4101 to hot measures 170v
& CR4118 cathode measures 1.0v to cold ground.

I will poke around in my old stock but from what I see so far they use
odd ball values
on some of the caps so, I will probably just make a list of suspected
parts & order them after the hollidays.

Thanks
