Default Realistic STA-2250

Hello
I have a Realistic STA-2250 that has been rarely used over the past 16 years
but
suddenly it developed a problem. When it is first turned on the FM may
tune in but after about a minute, the readout displays zero for both AM
and FM. Or it just starts out with zero right away. It cannot be tuned to
any stations once in this mode. The tape and other inputs work OK.
Is there anything obvious to look at? I'm considering either finding
a FM tuner somewhere to plug into this system's tape inputs or junking
the thing altogether becasue I don't know if it is worth trying to repair.
Thanks for any help or advice

I seem to recall a memory battery/capacitor that would go bad on
receivers from that era that would cause that type of symptom.

Yes, it is worth getting fixed. That unit along with the STA-2280
probably had the one of the best digital FM tuner sections available in
a combo receiver.
