Video stops playing half way through tape.
Model - SHARP VC-MH64. This video recorder stops playing tapes, it used to get about half way through the tape but now only plays a few minuites before stopping. On rewinding the tape it is meant to automatically slow down before it gets to the end, this also doesn't work any longer. Any ideas ?

DAZ9643:
Here are some guesses: 1. Bad or dirty tape..... try others 2. Dirty tape transport and heads. 3. Bad clutch 4. Slipping belts and/or pinch roller 5. Dirty mode switch 6. Bad tape motion sensors 7. Bad idler mechanism 8. Faulty back-tension mechanism Go to the website for this newsgrouup at http://www.repairfaq.org/ there, with some searching, you will find a wealth of troubleshooting and repair tips..... or if that doesn't help, TAKE it to a repair shop for, at the very least, a repair cost estimate so you can make an intelligent repair decision with facts instead of guesses -- Best Regards, Daniel Sofie Electronics Supply & Repair - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "DAZ9643" wrote in message news Model - SHARP VC-MH64.
