Current / power ratings, physical mounting considerations, how critical the application, etc. A bipolar transistor can do it with a 5.6 volt zener diode referencing the base junction. Try Googling "series regulator circuits". Mark Z. |

Maybe a three terminal reg like a LM78XX series might work.
