Default hand hewn beams follow up

Fine Woodworking has a clip with Roy Underhill where he shows how hand hewn
beams are roughed out. He only does a short section but you get the idea.
After what he shows is done a broad axe would be used to dress things up a
bit.

http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/index.asp and search for Roy
Underhill.
