Default Why doesn't the army help put out forest fires?

With all the equipment and manpower just sitting around you'd think they
would help.

It is a shame that houses get burned, but the forest will be better for it
when it re-grows. Let nature take care of it, not risk people's lives.
Forrest fires have been around since the beginning of forests.

What equipment would you use? Howitzers? M-1's?

The military had seamaster sea planes with jet engines that had more power than a B2 bomber, there is the C-5, C 135 air refueled that can be retrofitted to carry water, the old reliable C-130. There are lots of planes and helicopters that the military has and can be enacted with a simple phone call from the President of the US to enact a National Emergency. When A Forrest fire destroys land that encompasses millions of acres that has so much vital resources that takes centuries to recover, I would say that qualifies as a National Emergency. When you look at also, Land Management is the job of the US Forestry Service, US GOV"T RAN, then it makes sense that the US MILITARY fights the fire when a National Emergency hasn't been declared. If we spend billions to foreign countries to help feed, cloth and bail out corruption, why not fund our OWN US VITAL REsources as such devastation is like an ACT OF NATURAL War of Mother Nature and it sustains the Worlds irreplaceable resources that is sad for all Humanity when you look at the plants, insects, animals that are wiped out. When a fire rages the temperature can get so hot that it burns the very soil and depletes the nutrients for a thousand years.

You think 12 years after the post you responded to that the fire might
be out?
