My 1182Z is a good solid jointer but required a few adjustments in the
initial setting up.

I have the 1023 saw (not in the SLX configuration), and the jointer. I
have several other grizzly tools too. On all of them, the castings are
excellent. The saw and jointer both needed some minor adjustments to be
ready for use, but I didn't spend much time initially or since. I have
to say that I'm not all that thrilled with the sheet metal the jointer
mounts on so I'm going to make a nice solid one out of MDF. Overall, I
am pleased with the price and quality of all of my Grizzly stuff. At
least in my case, I can say that I got more than I paid for. I noticed
that you don't plan to buy a mortiser. I'd recommend that you get a
dedicated mortiser. I'm just a hobbyist, but I like to use mortise and
tenon joinery whenever possible. Don't forget the dust collection either!

I have the G1023SL and the G1182Z Jointer. I'm happy with both but if I had
it to do over again, I'd probably go with a right tilt tablesaw since the
T-slot on the left side is much closer to the blade. Guess it's just what
I'm used to. While I like the tablesaw, I kind of wish I'd have spent the
few extra hundred and got a Unisaw since it's a lifetime tool and the
centerpiece of any shop.

I have other Griz products such as s drill press, air compressor, and
bandsaw that you didn't mention and overall, I'm happy. I'd probably opt
for a different bandsaw if given the opportunity, but I don't dislike it.

Bob,

I bought a 1023slx 5hp TS about a year ago. It is by far the best
money ever spent. I lost my unisaw in a fire. was looking at
powermatic 66 ($2300 +/-).
decided to take a chance on grizzly ($1000 +/-). I have no regrets.
Better TS than my unisaur IMO. I have an HTC fence and 7' rails on
it. It cuts like a champ!
