Default looking for feedback on Infinity knives for a Dewalt 735 planer

Hi,

I've been using my 735 for about a year, but have really not put
much through it yet. I started planing some maple the other day, and
only go a few boards through it when I started to noticed "ridges". I
spot-checked the blades while they were still in the machine and did
not see any noticable dings in them, but the dings must be there
because I never had ridges before.

I loosened the blades and shifted two to the left and one to the
right (they move side to side a little bit). That made a big
difference, but I don't expect that to last for too long (have more
maple to run through it). I starting reading more details about the
"factory blades" that come with it (most of it negative) and then
noticed that Infinity has both high-speed steel and carbide blades for
it. The carbide are a little out of my price range right now (about
$250), but the HSS are only about $60.

I've seen a few mentions of the Infinity blades on the net, but not
as much as I would expect if they really are significantly better than
the factory Dewalt replacements. I'm willing to take a chance for $60
(assuming they're at the least comparable to the Dewalt versions).

Anyone have any real experience with any of the Infinity blades for
the Dewalt 735?

Tom,

I have not installed my infinity blades yet but the shipping was quick and
communication good.

According to the web site, they started shipping the week of Nov 10,
which is, ummm, just about now, so it seems unlikely anyone could have
much experience with them.

Also note that these have one cutting edge, the DeWalt's are
reversible. So it is possible you won't get more effective time with
the Infinity blades before they need to be sharpened. If they are
sharpened, how much fiddling will you have to do to install them, vs.
dropping in a new set of DeWalt blades?

If you get them and once you have experience with them, I'd like to
hear how they pan out.

Uh, scratch that. The web site picture shows a single edge, but the
description says these are reversible.

Hmm, scratch that too. I guess they have been out for a while,
according to this:

Scroll down to Jerome's posting on March 10 at 3:30 am.

I guess when it is time for me to replace mine, I will probably get
the Infinity blades, as they don't cost much extra.

don't have a planer, but all the router bits I bought from them are
top-notch... I would risk it!

I decided to give the Infinity blades a try, so I ordered them this
week. I'll be interested to see how they compare to the Dewalt
blades. Still surprised there are not more reviews of the Infinity
blades out there? I would have thought that someone was making a
killing on replacement blades for the 735, based on some of the
scathing reviews I've read about the Dewalts....
