Default Ikea Home Planner

http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/rooms_ideas/splashplanners.html

I've been playing a bit with this and it is pretty useful and very easy to
use. Ikea, of course, is flogging its own products, but the planner can be
used like an electronic 'back of the envelope'.

Default Ikea Home Planner

After a Upstairs units bathroom pipe burst and flooded my kitchen (and the
asshole had no homeowners insurance, don't ask me how the mortgage company
allowed that one) 6 years ago, I wanted some kitchen cabinets quickly and
disposable, ikea!.... After weeks of contractors searching. I said screw it
and decided that with modifications the Ikea worked out giving me more of a
design that I wanted then virtualy anyone else. I went with a more modern
using Aluminum flashing as a veneer and wire brushing them, then I went with
Ikeas glass doors perfect match. using 3/8ths angle aluminum as supports for
the glass shelves and with lights inside, looks cool too.

Since I saved 25 thousand, I went with highend stainless appliances a
wallmounted 36 in tv and undercabinet stereo, and the prefect countertop
Silestone....and a down on a Honda Ridgeline

What I just recently completed was getting the original drawers replaced
with the high gloss red ones and basically got a brand new kitchen for under
600 bucks for the drawers. But I'm currently replacing the curly maple (tung
oiled) trim above and below the cabinets, and used the Schluter System.
Using some stainless and polished Aluminum and glass tiles inserted. very
sharp looking especially with a few leds behind it (Ikea's) ones that change
color. The Shluter System is designed for flooring and tile, but **** it's
uses are really unlimited.

So when I tell people I got Ikea cabinets they all go "don't they fall
apart!... They are made from particle board but they've survived and if
another flood ever happens, I won't cry!

IKEA also sells and promotes Staron (Samsung) solid surface products,
100% acrylic and Hanstone Quartz.
So, as a result, a lot of the people around the two big IKEAs near me
(Burlington and 2 Toronto locations) get onto the net and shop for
quotes on Staron. You plug in South Western Ontario and Staron, and
you find me.
IKEA publishes their pricing strategy and I use the numbers the same
as theirs for IKEA customers.
Therefore, I have put a fair amount of tops onto IKEA kitchen
cabinets.
As we all know, installation is what it's all about. So, properly
installed, IKEA is every bit as solid as Merilat and Kitchen Craft.
At least some of the IKEA has style.

I happen to think IKEA fills a niche and they do it well. My kids have
always slept on IKEA måtressøs. G

No, it is not Stickley.

I found the IKEA software very useful when I was planning the cabinet
layout for our kitchen. I used their program to visualize the layout
and then built all the cabinets myself. After all the time it took to
build the cabinets I might just choose to BUY the cabinets from IKEA
next time.
