Default Heads Up For Wood Phreaks - Book

Borders Bookstore has Romeyn Beck Hough's The Wood Book The Complete
Plates
on sale for $39.95 US. This 800 page, hard bound book has color plates
of
a transverse section, radial section and tangential section of just
about every
American wood known around the turn of the last century, along with line
drawings of the leaves, flowers and seeds, accompanied by text in
english,
german and french. the book comes in a hard sleeve for added protection.

If you're a wood phreak this is a really nice book to have - especially
at
this price. The fact that it's put together with stitched binding makes
the price even more surprising.

I have no affiliation with Borders or Taschen, the publisher of the
book,
and am merely posting this heads up for you wood phreaks.

I just checked Amazon.com (which, I believe, is Borders) and they list
it at $26.39 with free shipping. That said, I'll be patronizing my
local independent bookseller for a copy at a slightly higher price.

Amazon is not Borders. Borders used to have their own Internet
ordering system, abandoned in favor of a deal with Amazon that now
accounts for about 2 percent of Amazon's sales, and announced a few
months ago that they were bailing on the Amazon deal and going back to
their own online system.
