Default I wish I always had an Incra Jig assisatant

Hey Group,
I had a real great time today making Incra boxes for two of my
neighbor's kids. There are two 13 year old girls who take care of our
ducks when my wife and I go on vacation and I wanted to give them
something special in addition to the money they get for their time so
today we finally got the chance to make some boxes. I made the 1/4
inch lumber (Walnut for the sides and top and Cherry for the bottom)
from trees harvested from one of the girl's property (and I'm so glad
they're my friends)
I isuued each dust mask, face shield, and hearing protection and
explained each step I performed from resawing, planing and jointing,
and cutting to size on the tablesaw. Then when we moved to the router
table I let each girl select the wood for her box and then (after a
little explanation of the principle of operation) I had each girl
adjust the Incra Jig while I cut the pieces.
We dry fitted everything and next week they'll come back for gluing
and sanding/finishing.
Having always use the jig solo I was really pleased to see how it sped
up the operation having someone help with positioning the fence. They
were told if they miss the line their sides won't fit together well
and we'd have to start over but all cuts worked out well. We used
evenly spaced finger joints to keep it simple too.
Maybe if they get really stoked on this I can get their help with more
projects in the future. That's all,
Marc
